Up-and-coming comedian Moataz Hamde has been making people laugh since late 2009, and his new Fringe Show ‘Afro Tales’ is no exception.
In 2010 Moataz reached the national final of the annual Raw Comedy Festival, after which he won A-List Entertainment’s Green Faces contest. At last year’s Fringe he paired up with comedian Amos Gill to perform their debut show ‘Background Check’, as well as taking part in the Adelaide Comedy Showcase. Currently, he’s performing at Gluttony-Funny Pork, with a self-written show that sees Moataz combining penis jokes, sexual innuendo and pre-recorded videos, taking his audience on a journey they’ll never forget.
If you’re like me and vertically challenged I suggest sitting near the front, otherwise you may not get a great view of the big-screen.
While Moataz said he’s let go of last year’s baggage (aka Amos Gill), he still rehashed old material. However, these old jokes are so funny you’ll forget you even care.
Interspacing these good-oldies is newer material: stories about strip clubs, his genitals and awkward university friends.
Without giving too much of his show away, it is fair to say that Moataz is definitely one of the highlights at this year’s Fringe. If you can’t catch him there, then check out the Rhino Room, a comedy club in Adelaide where Moataz is as a regular performer.
